Many of the members of the 2nd and 3rd generation have striven to take on the responsibility of bearing witness for their families and keeping alive the memory of individuals, culture and civilisation that was destroyed. Many of the 2nd and 3rd generation have in-depth knowledge of their family experiences and some have extensive knowledge of the period.  This course is designed to provide a framework of the major events between 1933-45 and to look at the aftermath and impact of the Shoah, not just on the families but on the Jewish and outside world. The course will be accompanied by film footage and documents.

Seminar sessions are as follows:

Wed 3 February 2010: “The Jewish World in 1933 - an overview.” Trudy Gold

Wed 10 February 2010: “Nazism and the Rise of Adolf Hitler.” Trudy Gold

Wed 24 February 2010: “1933-1939 - Social, legal and political exclusion of Jews from Germany. Isolation - the response of other nations.”  Trudy Gold

Please email us now if you are interested in participating and schedule the dates in your diary. Please also encourage others that would be interested to do the same.

The Seminar Series will be held on Wednesday evenings at the LJCC at Ivy House, 94 North End Road, London NW11 7SX

Trudy Gold is the Chief Executive of the LJCC.  Her teaching series are always sold out quickly. David Cesarani and Tony Kushner are both very eminent in the fields of expertise that they will be leading. We are privileged that these eminent teachers are prepared to commit the time to this programme.

This represents an amazing opportunity for us to understand the core subject of the Holocaust better and to have shared experience that will help us knit as a core group.
